About

For the long run

Sweden shall be the world's most sustainable and successful championship nation in equestrian sport.

Our purpose

The Swedish Equestrian Championship Foundation (SECF) is a privately funded foundation building a permanent endowment to strengthen Sweden's long-term international competitiveness in Olympic and Paralympic equestrian sport. We complement the work of the Swedish Equestrian Federation and enable targeted investment in Sweden's championship capacity.

why we exist

Our main goal is to broaden the elite of Swedish equestrian sport, supporting today's medal contenders while creating the conditions for the next generation. Support is directed toward riders, coaches and trainers, horse owners, breeders and the teams around the athletes, as well as to research and technical development.

What the foundation aims to achieve
01
Increased number of horse-and-rider combinations competing at the highest international level
02
Support on the journey from junior ranks to elite senior
03
Lowering financial and social barriers, so more riders, whatever their background, can pursue elite level
04
Supporting sports science, performance analytics and mental performance training
05
Advancing horse welfare, breeding and sustainable elite development of horses
How the foundation is managed

Capital that endures

The foundation aims to have permanent capital, and operate as an endowment. Donated capital is invested, not spent. Only the annual return is put to work, so a gift doesn't fund one season, but every season that follows.

of the annual return invested directly into the sport

Our core principles

Four starting points guide every decision we make, from how the capital is managed to what we choose to fund.

Sustainability

Horse welfare is the starting point for every decision we make. What we fund shall strengthen both the sport and public trust in it, and support Swedish equestrian sport's Social License to Operate.

Excellence

Open processes, objective selection criteria, professional asset management, clear reporting. The same standard applies to those we fund and to the settings we create. The level is set by the international competition Swedish riders face.

Collaboration

We work closely with the national teams, active riders, horse owners and breeders. And in collaboration with the Swedish Olympic Committee and the Swedish Paralympic Committee, the Swedish Equestrian Federation and the sport's innovation and research environments.

Future focus

We invest in medal capacity built over years and decades, not over a season. We invest in what the sport will need next: the next generation of riders and horses, new methods and new knowledge. That takes the courage to question received wisdom.

Team

The people behind the foundation

Behind the foundation stands a committed team of dedicated people contributing entirely pro bono, driven by an unshakeable conviction: that Swedish equestrian sport belongs at the top of the world. A board, a sport council and advisors, supported by a network of experts, all with deep roots in equestrian sport and business.

How we allocate resources

In close collaboration with the sport, the federation, national teams and athletes

The foundation's investments and priorities are decided in consultation with the national team captains of show jumping, dressage, eventing and para dressage, and in ongoing dialogue with active riders, owners and breeders, so that capital lands where it makes the greatest sporting difference.
